Retrospect Records are honored to release The GENTS' music, based out of Baltimore, Maryland. The Gents played consistently on the east coast throughout the 70's and 80's. Their ASIA-style song "I Can't Take It" was featured on the now-classic MTV basement tapes show in 1984. The superb songs here were recorded between 1981 and 1984. This is simply excellent melodic pop~rock / AOR mixed with a nice healthy dose of classic pomp rock to keep things really interesting. Featuring outstanding vocal harmonies, top notch musicianship and hook laden songs, there is no doubt THE GENTS should have been destined for much greater stardom. Not to be discouraged, however, the GENTS began recording again in the last few years as "FOO MAN BILL", which will soon be available here at Retrospect, and are still producing fantastic melodic pop/rock songs with more of a powerpop leaning as of late. Fantastic music from both bands. Highly recommended!!
