Heaven Decoy was another project that the members of FX (A Retrospect artist) were a part of in the 80's. Based in Santa Cruz, CA and fronted by Jay Pomerantz, the 19 songs on this disc (essentially a throwback to the days of 'double-albums' where there was a studio side and a live side) were all recorded in the mid to late 80's and are a great blend of keyboard-dominated new wave / synthpop, progressive pop~rock, powerpop and hi-tech AOR. Includes a monster 24-page full color booklet containing tons of info about the project and band members. HEAVEN DECOY IS A HEAVY DOSE OF MID-80's MODERN ROCK, BLENDING LAYERED SYNTHS AND 80's GUITAR LICKS WITH QUIRKY LYRICAL THEMES REMINISCENT OF THE NEW WAVE SOUND FROM THE LATE 70'S AND EARLY 80's. THE BAND WAS HEAVILY INFLUENCED BY MANY BRITISH MODERN ROCK ACTS; SEVERAL U.S INFLUENCES ARE HEARD AS WELL, PARTICULARLY ON THE LIVE TRACKS (WHICH HAVE A HARDER ROCK EDGE THAN THE STUDIO TRACKS). THIS BLEND OF SYNTH AND GUITAR-DRIVEN MODERN ROCK WITH A TWIST OF NEW WAVE WILL APPEAL TO FANS OF: Peter Gabriel, Tears For Fears, Thomas Dolby, Talking Heads, XTC, Oingo Bongo, Simple Minds, Duran Duran, Ice House, The Fixx, ETC... |
